4 Steps To Designing Your Dream Kitchen

The kitchen is the heart of the home. Arguably the most important room in the home, it’s no wonder you want to get it right. Designing your dream kitchen is a big ask. There are many needs to consider and many wants to satisfy, all of which must be achieved within budget.
A kitchen is a long-term feature in the home and so it's essential that the elegant and beautiful design you opt delivers what you need it to, remaining stylish for some time too.
No idea where to start? We’re here every step of the way
Exciting it may be, but a kitchen project is a daunting task especially if you have no idea where to start. We have the four steps you need to begin designing and renovating your kitchen and it stars by looking at your current kitchen…
STEP 1 – Your current kitchen, what do you love and hate about it?
There will be things you love about your current kitchen. Maybe you love the colour or the ample storage that it offers.
But there will be a long list of things you don’t like and things you ‘wish you could change’. Like the corner cupboard which is so high it’s inaccessible or the wasted space at the very back of base cupboards you can’t reach. Or maybe it’s the lack of electric sockets…
The list could go on. So here’s what you need to do:
- Make a list of the things you love
- Make a separate list of the things you don’t like or don’t need
- Add a third list of things that are missing
STEP 2 – How do you really use your kitchen?
And how would you like to use it?
It is the room where people gather. After a long day at work, it is the room that hears you discuss your day, the place you plan things and so on.
But it could deliver so much more. What about an eating area, such as a small breakfast bar? Or maybe you are considering knocking walls down, fusing the kitchen and dining room into one glorious room?
There are so many options but your dream kitchen depends on two things: the space you have and the budget you have.
STEP 3 – Improve it
Essentially, a kitchen re-design is about improving the kitchen. it’s about upping the stakes when it comes to storage, it’s about refining the flow so that no matter who is in the kitchen and what they are doing, it can accommodate the action, easily and stylishly.
And so here’s your wish list. Don’t be fettered by your budget just yet, just let the ideas flow. The more ideas you have, the more you the will enjoy the kitchen once it is complete.
Step 4 – Be realistic
‘The Budget’ can thwart many a project. It is about using it wisely and understanding what you will compromise on and what you won’t.
For example, never compromise on the quality of your chosen kitchen units. Our kitchen ranges, for example, are imported directly from a leading German kitchen manufacturer and everything is of the highest standard. From the cupboard carcass to the finish of worktops and other accessories, it is possible to have the kitchen of your dreams.
With thought and planning, your dream kitchen is within your grasp.
